Good Graffiti

I really like graffiti; even the shitty tags, even ones that might end up on my garage door or car hood some day. I've seen clips of the graffiti on columns in Rome. As a form of communication it can be very powerful. It's illicit. It's raw. It's from the heart. It's a voice for those who sometimes feel powerless. It's a shout that lingers on the canvas of our society. It should not be ignored. Remember the empty backboards on the Philadelphia playground at 9th and Lombard? The hoops were removed and "Put Back the Rims" was scrawled from corner to corner. remember Haring and Basquiat? Keep your eyes open, soma.

Sun never sets on student teaching

After a brief layoff the sun grew a sprout of inspiration within me today. Not much now but what's to come is going to be historic- in my life anyway.

Student teaching in Bala Cynwyd, hereby known as BC, starts in 24 days. I'll start by beginning to study like a 4th grader; the 3 Rs and even some pop culture. I'll try to log as much as I can here, as I did with my practicum last month. Wish me luck, everybody...
